Epinouze stretches over 1,100 hectares, has 1,172 inhabitants and is the land of the Moras lords. Arboriculturists by tradition, they cultivate fruit, as the rocky soil of the Rhône terraces is favourable for apples, peaches, nectarines and red berry fruits.
To the west of the village and dominating La Valloire is the Lachal commandry, founded in the 12th century by the Knights Hospitallers and typical of La Valloire architecture.
The St.Hilaire chapel is nowadays a culture centre run by the village, but the armorial bearings of Humbert de Beauvoir, Knight of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and Dauphiné family member are still in existance.
