Moras-en-Valloire
Moras en Valloire overlooks the Bièvre-Valloire plain and the pear tree orchards from high on its hill.
A medieval, local style architecture includes lovely buildings with walls constructed of adobe, river stones positioned in a fishbone pattern, sandstone and shale.
The Liberty Tree, planted in 1848 and symbol of the French Revolution, is near to the fountain.
The 11th century church bell used to be rung at orchard watering times until 1950!
History enthusiasts can follow the signs to the Madone statue, raised on the hill by the villagers in 1854 as a votive offering to the madonna after being spared from the plague.
Equally delightful are the nearby chestnut tree woods and acacia groves.
